Thing 9 | Play with Wiki's

My Technology Popper Idea

Anna:

I love my preschoolers! Even preschoolers can use wikis! One thing I know about my preschoolers is that they love to draw. Every five seconds they are drawing Miss Anna a picture or me to take home an put on my refrigerator or take a picture to add to our Picture Tree. A great simple wiki for Early Childhood is the KinderDrawProject. I found this wiki during my exploration in Thing 8.

Our preschoolers today know how to use the computer in a way that a simple wiki such as this can appeal to them. Through this wiki, students can build new concepts and be able to draw them. This wiki can also be used in conjuction with the new 5E lesson plan format.

The drawing can be a collection of pictures created by the students or even a collection of images that students bring in from home or find with their parents on the internet.

Personally or Professionally??

I could use a wiki both professionally and personally. I would get more bang for my buck using wikis professionally. I really am a champion for monitoring and tracking documents, ideas, and projects. I have explored a lot of wikis that allow me to do that. Having a portfolio that I can keep online with my interests, trends, projects, research and completions all in one place is great. And with one click of a button, I can present, share, and publish.
